* 1931 SADAS Primo Carnera rookie card boxing world champion heavyweight + G Gestri (date series)

Primo Carnera - his rookie card!  2 Italians card from 1931 (dated by other cards in the same series, e.g. Gino Gestri in his 1931 Legnano kit) of the boxing world champion heavyweight ATG HOF and the Tour de France (Nice/Nizza stage) winner. The cards are believed to have been made by SADAS (they bear many stylistic similarities to other SADA/SADAS cards of 1929-1932: SEE THE 2ND & 3RD PICTURES of other examples, boxers and other sports stars).

Carnera was known in Italy at this time, in 1931, far better than elsewhere in the world, a full 2 years before his World Heavyweight win in USA.

The card is dated by that of Gino Gestri, from the same series, of the Legnano cycling team - in his picture, he is seen wearing the 'Legnano' kit. By 1932 Gestri was with rivals, the bigger cycling team 'Bianchi'.
