Description
1957 JIMMY GREAVES ROOKIE CARD by Vistascreen, a card from set 69, the CHELSEA series. made by Stanley Long. His stereoscopic photo firm was founded by the end of 1956. It's 1st full year in production was 1957. By summer 1957 it had produced up to 60 sets.
Set 69, Chelsea, came in autumn/fall 1957, therefore this card is earlier than the Soirée, Cadet and Colinville 1958 cards of Jimmy Greaves, by 1 year!
Issued by Stanley Long the erotic filmmaker known for his soft-core sex films of the 1970's, it was one of many 100's of series, the highest number of which is known to be set 719!
Then came the letter+number sets, such as set "C170", the Crystal Palace series, which included Bernard Harrison, a player who left The Eagles by summer 1959, dating that very series to early 1959, at the latest. The Crystal Palace set, numbered C170, came many 100s of sets LATER than the Chelsea set, numbered 69.
After 5 years in business, Vistascreen sold out to Weetabix in 1961, having made almost 1000 sets of cards since 1957.
