See photo of newspaper extract from April 1884. It talks of spectators wearing this card in their bowler hat bands - billycocks are bowler hats. SOLD AS SEEN. Dated to 1883 by the article. If a crowd was wearing it in April 1884 the card was undoubtedly produced some months, maybe a year or two earlier. It may be 1882, or earlier still.
