Description
See the supporting picture for another example from this very rare series, that of Luigi Villoresei, also for sale on this websie; another F1 legend
This Alberto Ascari early card is from late 1946 when this new-year 1947 seris was issued. This is a so-called "packet-issue" card. It was issued as a token with Motta foods and, as it says on the back, it was to be clipped out, saved and returned to Motto for prizes, which is why so few of these remain in circulation!
This one shows Alberto Ascari in his early, 2-wheel days! Here, he's still to become the legendary Ferrari F1 driver. . It shows him when he was still a MotoGP motorcycle rider. So, it's truly a ROOKIE CARD for Ascari!.
The "Motta Sport 1947" collection was typically oddly cut, because it had to be cut out from a leaflet issued with Motta brand foods. The token, seen as issued, was issued folded, then was cut out, completed and mailed back to Motta.
These are all very rare - SEE SUPPORING PHOTO another Motta F1 card from the same series and also see a supporting photos of an Ebay sale of a much later card, from 5 years later, a 1951 VAV card (5 or 6 known) which sold for 750 USD in October 2022 then you'll know why this rarity is priced as it is
SOLD AS SEEN this is the only known example of this particular card! Buyer gets the ASCARI. The supporting photo villaresi card is not included but it is for sale elsewhere on this site
