1959 -60 Pele #74 SHOOT GUM card - dated see below! - Miroir Sprint series#1 card, SUPERB CONDITION

£1,950.00

Description:

This Pele is in SUPERB CONDITION! It's Pele's =1st GUM CARD, dating from the 1959 -60 season (dated by other cards in the series) issued by "Shoot Gum" in a deal done with "Miroir Sprint" sports newspaper in the close of that season.

This card is the "rounded corners" type, as originally issued, die-cut by the issuer, with number #74 so it is a Miroir Sprint series 1 item! The series was reissued 3 times, with players and teams having different or even no numbers, and differing formats. Collated during the 1959 -1960 season, this is one of four similar SHOOT GUM / Miroir Sprint series of smaller cards (not the later-issue, larger playing cards) each of which had a Pele card with a different number, or a different borders format, or a single/triple issue, some of which are without numbers.

This, the earliest series is dated to 1959-60 season because the teams in the same collection are dated "59-60". Latterday series have later-dated teams (e.g. "1960") and players come with different numbers to their earlier issue. e.g. such as the goalie Colonna who is known with numbers #28 (on a rounded card), #87 (on a square corners card) and also numberless on a card with yellow borders, as, in this instance so does Pelé! There is also a Pele with two rounded corners atop and 2 square corners at the base! So, it's a fascinating series to purse but this is the earliest Pelé; the first by Shoot Gum with Miroir Sprint. So, this is the earliest, round-borders type Pele with #74.

This very rare Pele French card is SOLD AS SEEN with no faults! No creases! No flaws! Not even a trace of stick-of-gum residue! AMAZING CONDITION!

INFORMATION about the supporting photo of the Colonna cards. The supporting photo, seen above/below, shows the variations in this series. The player Colonna has been used to illustrate the issue: different cards' styles and numbers. It seems there were various series of these cards. Pele #74 is from the first series with the rounded red borders, Shoot Gum back, but is also known in the 2nd series, with square corners and in later yellow-border series, of which there are two types. with no number!
