José Mariano Arrate Esnaola was voted 3rd greates Spanish player, in 1922 - by the people who knew best, by his contemporaries, in the 22 April special edition of 'Futbol' magazine he came after Alcantara & Zamora, ahead of Peña in 4th & Samitier in 5th place. Silver medal winner at the world cup before The World Cup, the Olmpic Games Soccer Tournament in 1920 and a member of Spain's very first International against France in 1913!
